Indianapolis Childrens Museum

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is the largest children’s museum in the world. The more than 400,000-square-foot facility houses 11 major galleries that explore the physical and natural sciences, history, world cultures and the arts. The Children’s Museum is a place to learn and do. Whenever possible, exhibits are “hands-on” or participatory in nature.ands of programs and activities each year.

Civil War Museum

Recognized as one of the world's outstanding monuments, the structure has come to symbolize both the City of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana. It stands 284 feet, 6 inches high, only 15 feet shorter than the Statue of Liberty. It cost $598,318 in 1902. It has been estimated that building a similar structure today would cost more than five hundred million dollars.

Conner Prairie

Conner Prairie is a large, open-air living history museum made up of five distinct historic areas, a modern museum center and over 1,400 acres of natural beauty. Conner Prairie's mission is to serve as a local, regional and national center for education and activities exploring the lives, times and values of the 1800s in America.

Eiteljorg Museum

The Eiteljorg Museum is unique, one of two museums east of the Mississippi with both Native American and Western art. The American Western Gallery includes works from the Taos, N.M., Artists' Colony as well as pieces from such legends as Remington and Russell. Contemporary artists who tell the story of today's West are also represented and the Native American collection includes pottery, basketry, sculpture and other artifacts from all 10 North American native cultural areas.

Indiana State Museum

Located in White River State Park in the heart of Indianapolis. Indiana World War Memorial

The War Memorial is inspired by a neoclassical design. It is similar to the Greek architecture of the fifth century. It is a square shrine structure with a pyramidal dome, and has Ionic columns. Its formally designed open spaces and its heroic monuments and statuary all contribute to its grander.

The Indianapolis Museum of Art is among the largest and oldest general art museums in the United States. Founded in 1883, the Museum now boasts a permanent collection of more than 50,000 works of art that span the range and scope of art history. James Whitcomb Riley Home

Take a glimpse of society life at the turn of the century just as Hoosier Poet James Whitcomb Riley experienced it. The Museum Home, nestled in the heart of Indianapolis’ historic Lockerbie neighborhood, showcases many of the great poet’s personal belongings. At the home, visitors get the rare chance to experience the country’s only late-Victorian preservation. Authentic furnishings and décor fill the home with an air of nostalgia.
